That Canadian election
I'm not impressed with any of the candidates. What I particularly don't like is when candidates mislead voters for personal gain. They tell half truths. During a playoff game, a Conservative advertisement said that the Liberals would raise taxes. Err, we'll... As far as I know the Liberals only plan to stop tax cuts to businesses. Ethics? I guess not. Every party is equally unethical. They all tell half truths.
The parties can go beyond half truths to pure stupidity and selfishness. Layton blasted Iggy's attendance record in the house during the debate. In my humble opinion, his attack was selfish and dumb. None of the polls place the NDP as an election winner. The NDP would require a massive voter shift, possible but simply unlikely (very unlikely). The question becomes: who would be a more successful ally for the NDP? Would it be a Conservative government or a Liberal one? Duh! Obviously, a Liberal government would be more likely to support NDP initiatives. If the NDP really wanted to implement their policies they would play better politics and quietly hope for a Liberal victory.
To use Harper's catch phrase: "let's be clear". (Drives me cracked. Is Harper really such a poor communicator that he must tell people that he's suddenly about to say something coherently.) So let's be clear, I don't like any of the candidates. This post isn't pro anyone. If anything it's a knock against every Canadian that's sitting on their sofa accepting this dishonourable, classless and often unethical political behaviour.
For puck sake, I could do a better job.
